Penn State Altoona’s spring theatre production, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]” by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield, directed by Mary Beth Geppert, will run March 20 – 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.

“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]” is a 2023 version of the original “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged),” first performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. It has since been performed around the world and is London’s longest-running comedy, playing for nine years at the Criterion Theatre. It has won rave reviews such as the following:,

  • “Stupendous…joy!” – The London Times
  • "Shamelessly heretical!” – Time Out (London)
  • “Pithier than Python. Irresistible.” – The New York Times
  • “If you like Shakespeare, you’ll like this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll love this show!” – The Today Show

Featured in this “[revised] [again]” version are all 37 Shakespeare plays performed in 97 minutes by three actors. Fast-paced, witty, and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike. It includes changes that celebrate and encourage greater diversity and inclusivity in today’s theatre.

This performance is free and open to the public through the support of the Kjell Meling Arts for All Initiative. It is recommended for ages 12 and up. For further information, call 814-949-5452.
